The Southern Illinois men's golf team opens its fall season on Monday at the Murray State Invitational. The two-day, 54-hole event starts with an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start. Nine teams will play 36 holes on Monday and finish with 18 holes on Tuesday.

The Salukis are part of a field which includes Bethel (TN), Evansville, Green Bay, Missouri Baptist, Southern Indiana, UT-Martin, Western Illinois and the host Racers.

SIU head coach Justin Fetcho is fielding a lineup of returnees Peyton Wilhoit, Brandon Carlson, Luke Gannon, Matt Greenfield, along with freshman Sam Meek. Playing as individuals are Carson Seals and Frankie Thomas.

"Even though this is a new year, we have some familiar faces in our lineup this week," Fetcho said. "We will be looking at the upperclassmen for leadership during our prep work and how to handle ourselves in a tournament environment. I'm also excited to see the freshmen get out and compete in their first collegiate tournament."
