Men's Golf tied for 10th after first round at Golfweek Challenge

The Southern Illinois men's golf team is tied for 10th place with UMKC after the first round of action on Friday at the Golfweek Conference Challenge in Burlington, Iowa.

The Salukis are +9 as a team and trail first-place San Jose State by 19 strokes in the 12-team event. SIU shot a 297 team score and leads last-place Idaho by six strokes.

SIU's top golfer on the day was freshman Carson Seals, who fired an even par 72. He is teid for 17th place overall. The other three scorers for Southern were Matt Greenfield (73), Peyton Wilhoit (74) and Brandon Carlson (78).

Rounds two and three will take place on Saturday and Sunday.
