Peyton Wilhoit named MVC Golfer of the Week

Southern Illinois junior Peyton Wilhoit was named one of the Missouri Valley Conference Golfers of the Week, marking the third time in his career he's won the league honor. Wilhoit helped the men's golf team to a sixth-place finish at the David Toms Intercollegiate, a tournament hosted by LSU, the 19th ranked team in the nation. Wilhoit battled a strong field, tough course and Hurricane Nate to finish tied for fifth place, tying his career best. Wilhoit shot a 72 in the opening round and 70 in the second, in an event that was shortened by the impending hurricane. He birdied four holes in the closing round to ensure a top-five finish. Wilhoit outplayed LSU's Philip Barbaree, the No. 236 player in the nation.
