Â
After two consecutive wins, The Saluki Women's Golf team will be heading into its most important tournament of the fall season, The Missouri Valley Conference Preview hosted by Wichita State on October 16-17.
Â
Wichita State won the bid to host the preview before moving to the American Athletic Conference last season. The Shockers will be participating in the tournament.
Â
With 11 teams and 16 individuals from nine different MVC schools competing, the competition will be stronger than ever.
"This competition is very closely packed," Head Coach Alexis O'Brien said. "I expect that whichever team wins will only win by one (stroke). The phrase every shot counts couldn't be more pertinent than in this tournament."
Â
Missouri State is the defending MVC champion from the 2016-17 season. Before that, Wichita State won the MVC championship for three straight years.
Â
Both Bradley and Indiana State have had two top-five finishes and individual wins this season. Indiana State's Sierra Hargens took first at the Butler Fall Invitational, while Bradley's Ally Scaccia won the Redbird Invitational.
Â
"We know how to score and if we can execute and commit to the process then everyone else should be worried about us," O'Brien said.
Â
The Salukis were back to back APSU Invitational champions and just won the Chi-Town Classic as a team, and individual honors on Tuesday. Senior Hanna Netisingha placed first and freshman Emilyee McGiles took home second place.
Â
Netisingha will lead the Salukis after her second ever individual win at the Chi-Town Classic. Freshman Moyea Russell and McGiles will be following Netisingha for this tournament.
Â
Senior Alice Ho and sophomores Lili Klekner-Alt and Erica Kerr will also be on the roster for the Salukis.
Â
The tournament will kick-off with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. on October 16, and will conclude on October 17. Live scoring can be found on golfstat.com.
