The Saluki Women's Golf team will conclude its fall season at the Charles Braun Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Evansville on October 23-24.
Â
The Salukis have played against seven of the 11 teams competing at the Charles Braun, three of which they just saw at the Missouri Valley Conference Preview earlier this week.
Â
SIU faced IUPUI at the Redbird Invitational in September, and Eastern Illinois at the APSU Intercollegiate on October 2-3. The Salukis won the APSU Intercollegiate for the second-straight year earlier this month.
Â
Southern defeated Green Bay and Illinois-Chicago at the Chi-Town Classic on October 9-10 for its second tournament win of the season. UIC finished second and Green Bay finished third. Â
Â
Earlier this week, the Dawgs finished the MVC Preview tied for third with Missouri State. Indiana State was tied for fifth, three strokes off Southern. While Evansville and Valparaiso finished at the bottom of the leaderboard.
Â
Head Coach Alexis O'Brien said the team needs to believe in themselves as they head into the final event of the season. She knows the team can come out with the attitude needed to be champions and with only two rounds in the tournament, they need to be solid going into play.
Â
"I believe any player on my roster can have a stand out performance," O'Brien said. "It's just hard to gauge who that will be because they are all very talented. I expect at least one saluki in the top five."
Â
The Charles Braun Intercollegiate will begin with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. on Monday and conclude on Tuesday. Live scoring will not be available.
