Salukis announce 2017 football schedule

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois football program announced the 2017 schedule and game times on Tuesday. SIU will play five home games, including the season opener on Sept. 9 vs. Mississippi Valley State.Â
Southern's first road game is Sept. 16 at Southeast Missouri, which is followed by a trip to FBS foe Memphis (Sept. 23). Conference play starts in Saluki Stadium vs. Northern Iowa on Sept. 30, which will also be Family Weekend. The annual Homecoming game is set for Oct. 14 vs. Illinois State. The Salukis also host Missouri State (Nov. 4) and 2016 FCS national runner-up Youngstown State (Nov. 11) in Saluki Stadium.Â
The first two home games will be 6 p.m. kickoffs. The Oct. 14 Homecoming game will kick off at 2 p.m. CT, and the final two home games will kick off at 1 p.m. CT. SIU's MVFC road trips are to South Dakota State (Oct. 7), Indiana State (Oct. 21), South Dakota (Oct. 28) and Western Illinois (Nov. 18).Â
Season ticket renewals will be sent out this week. New season tickets can be purchased by calling 877-SALUKIS.Â
