Men's Golf holds steady in 8th place on Day Two at Seminole Intercollegiate

The Southern Illinois men's golf team held steady in eighth place at 2-under par on Saturday after two rounds of competition at the Seminole Intercollegiate, hosted by Florida State in Tallahassee, Florida.
The Salukis (-2) passed VCU (+3) in the standings today but were surpassed by Troy (-15), which was one of only two teams to improve upon its first round team score. Penn State (-26) leads the 14-team field by two strokes over host Florida State (-24). SIU has a five-stroke lead over ninth-place VCU and is seven strokes back of sixth-place Jacksonville (-9) and James Madison (-9).
SIU's Matt Greenfield (-4) continues to lead the team in scoring and is tied for 13th place out of 81 golfers. Teammate Peyton Wilhot (-2) is also below par. The team's top score of the day came from freshman Sam Meek (+4) who fired a 3-under par 69. It was the fifth-best score overall on Saturday. Â
Freshman Frankie Thomas (-2), who is competing as an individual, is tied for 25th place overall. His 4-under par score from yesterday was revised to 2-under par, and he followed that mark up with an even-par 72 today.
The final round at the 7,172-yard Southwood Golf Course starts on Sunday morning.
