Greg Lambert named MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week

ST. LOUIS - Southern Illinois junior Greg Lambert was named the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week, presented by Enterprise Bank and Trust Company, the league announced on Tuesday. Lambert holds a 3.47 GPA in management.

Lambert led the Salukis to a three-game sweep over Western Illinois this weekend. In four games last week, Lambert went 6-for-15 with two doubles, a home run and six RBIs. He also drew four walks for a .526 on-base percentage and slugged .733. He stole a base and scored four runs while playing perfect defense. He reached in all four games last week and had two multi-hit games, going a combined 5-for-8 in the first two wins over Western Illinois.

To qualify for Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week laurels, student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20, completed at least one academic year at a Valley institution and must be at least a sophomore in academic standing. Redshirt freshmen and first-year junior college transfers are not eligible. In addition to the academic qualifications, student-athletes will be evaluated on their athletic performance for a one-week period.
