Men's Golf in 10th place after two rounds at Gary Koch Invitational

The Southern Illinois men's golf team stands tied for 10th place at 15-over par after Day One of competition on Monday at the Gary Koch Invitational in Gastonia, North Carolina.
No. 20-ranked Auburn leads the field at 17-under par with North Carolina not far behind at 12-under. There is room for the Salukis to climb in the rankings, as they trail No. 37-ranked Kentucky by just one stroke.
The top performances of the day for SIU were turned in by freshman Frankie Thomas (+2) and sophomore Peyton Wilhoit (+4). After shooting a 75 in the first round, Thomas carded a 71 in the second round that included an eagle on the 18th hole. He also birdied holes four, six and nine. Thomas is tied for 31st place in the individual standings. Wilhoit had a 71 in the first round and a 77 in the second. He is tied for 37th place.
The final round the 7,042-yard Gaston Country Club takes place tomorrow.
