Men’s Tennis gears up for regular-season finale versus Illinois State

The Southern Illinois men's tennis team travels to Bloomington, Illinois to play the Illinois State Redbirds in its final regular-season match of the year on Friday.
Head coach Jonny Rigby said the Salukis (15-3) have typically played tight matches against the Redbirds (7-14), with the victory often coming down to the final point.
"The guys have shown all year that they compete hard for every point and I expect nothing different this weekend," Rigby said. "It feels good to be going into the end of our season full of confidence."
The Salukis have consistently improved throughout the season. SIU is ranked second in the MVC, behind Drake, who they lost to on April 8. Southern is also ranked No. 80 nationally.
No. 113 Piotr Baranski has been playing at a high level at No.1 singles and No.1 doubles with partner Alex Pozo. Baranski and Pozo are 13-0 for the season in doubles and were ranked nationally all year.
"This season has been a huge success," Rigby said. "It is great for our program to have a guy like Piotr continuously making his mark on the national rankings."
The Salukis take the court against the Redbirds at 4 p.m.
