Salukis travel to Drake University

After a triumph in the home finale against Wichita State, the Southern Illinois men's tennis team travels to Des Moines, Iowa to take on Drake on Saturday. The Salukis currently lead the MVC and are 15-2 on the season. This is the second conference matchup for the Dawgs, but the first for Drake.

"The Wichita win was really special for us for several reasons," coach Jonny Rigby said. "But the guys have done a good job of turning their attention to Drake this week. Hopefully, the confidence from the win will carry over to this weekend."

While Southern is confident going into the match, Drake leads the all-time series against the Salukis 26-6 and is currently ranked No. 54 through the ITA.
The Bulldogs' lineup features Vinny Gillespie, who is currently ranked No. 83 in singles.

"Vinny is one of the top players in our conference," Rigby said. "But our top guys have performed really well throughout this year, and when they play well, they are capable of beating anyone."

First serve is set for 10 a.m. on Saturday.
