NCAA Tournament Bracket and Times

CARBONDALE, ILL. - Southern Illinois University (33-22) will compete in the Oxford, Mississippi regional in the 2017 NCAA softball tournament. SIU is joined by Ole Miss (host), North Carolina, and Arizona State.Â
This is head coach Kerri Blaylock's sixth NCAA tournament appearance as Southern's skipper. Blaylock took five teams to the big dance between 2003 and 2007, going 9-10 in those trips. This is the first automatic bid the team has had under Blaylock, the previous five were all at large selections. SIU was one of 32 teams to receive an automatic bid.
"I feel like we are playing our best softball right now, which is a good thing," Â head coach Kerri Blaylock said. "The way I look at anything can happen when you are on the diamond. We're just going to go out and roll the dice and play. We are just so excited. I've done this a long time, been in a lot of regionals, and had a few upsets. You just go play the game."Â
The team will practice in Carbondale on Monday and Tuesday. Monday's practice will start at 11 a.m. and go to around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday's practice time is to be determined. The media is welcome to come to practice both days.
SIU will travel to Mississippi on Wednesday and practice at Ole Miss on Thursday. Their first game will be against the host team and No. 12 seed in the tournament, Ole Miss, at 8:30 p.m. CST on Friday. That game can be watched on ESPN3. Saturday and Sunday's schedule will be decided by the outcome of the first two games. The entire weekend schedule is below.
