Placed sixth in second semifinal heat of 400 meter dash
Sophomore standout Warren Hazel ran 45.83 to finish 14th in the 400 meter dash at the 2017 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore.
Running out of lane eight, Hazel took sixth in the second semifinal heat of the 400m Wednesday night. The Old Roads, St. Kitts native  needed to run a world qualifying mark to advance to Friday's final, as indoor All-American Steven Gayle of Alabama scooped up the eighth, and final, spot with a time of 45.45. Collegiate record holder Fred Kerley of Texas A&M had the top qualifying time at 44.57.
Hazel's finish was the best by a non-power five conference runner, as five runners from the SEC, two from the PAC-12 and one from the Big 12 advanced to Friday's final.
Freya Block throws the hammer tomorrow at 4 p.m. CST, while five-time All-American Kyle Landon competes in the high jump Friday at 7 p.m. CST. Both events will be streamed via ESPN3, with links available to view here.
