SIU's Brandon Carlson was one of 260 Division I golfers named an All-America Scholar by the Golf Coaches Association of America. To be eligible for GCAA All-America status, an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
Carlson played 30 rounds and finished second on the team in stroke average (75.2) last season. He was named Missouri Valley Conference co-Golfer of the Week after he tied for third place with Matt Greenfield at the Murray State Invitational. He recorded a personal-best score of 4-under par at Murray State with a pair of career-low rounds of 68. Carlson also earned MVC Golfer of the Week honors for finishing 16th out of 84 golfers at the Louisiana Classics against a field with four top-25 programs.
