SIU opens 2017 season with spirited first day of camp

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois football program opened the 2017 season on Saturday with the first day of fall camp. Half of the team practiced in the morning and the other practiced in the afternoon.

The 2017 Salukis return 15 starters from last year's team and have something to prove after being picked eighth in the preseason MVFC poll. Six players were named to the preseason All-MVFC teams: Austin Olsen, Hans Carmien, Jeremy Chinn, D.J. Davis, Connor Iwema, Craig James.
