The Southern Illinois Women's Golf team travels to Chesterton, Indiana to compete in the MVC Fall Preview. The players traveling are, junior Erica Kerr, sophomore Moyea Russell, sophomore Emilyee McGiles, graduate Jackie Biggs, and junior Lili Klekner-Alt. Freshman Grace Renfer will be competing as an individual.
The 9-team field will compete at the Sand Creek Country Club, a par-72 course that spans 6,074 yards. The course is characterized by extensive wetlands, creeks, ponds, and rolling terrain. With winds from the north off Lake Michigan, the course puts a premium on club selection and accuracy.
With windy conditions and temperatures expected to be in the low 30s, the weather will likely be a factor when the team tees off Monday morning.
"The weather will make the tournament tougher for everyone," SIU head coach Danielle Kaufman said. "Our girls feel comfortable with the course and are confident. We have the tools to be successful and finish top-3."
The Salukis go into the tournament coming off a 4th place finish at the Northern Iowa - Diane Thomason Invite. The Salukis had three players finish in the top-20: Erica Kerr, Moyea Russell, and Emilyee McGiles.
The teams tee off for round one on Monday at 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. The final round will begin Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Live stats will be available via BirdieFire.
