
Women's Golf finishes in eighth place at GCU Invite

After a frost delay in Phoenix, the SIU Women's Golf team concluded the GCU Invitational in eighth place. Â The Salukis ended with a combined three-round score 926. Â They ended the third round with a score of 299, matching the fifth best third round scores in the Saluki record book.

Sophomore Erica Kerr had her best Saluki performance. Â Kerr shot five over par in the third round allowing her to finish tied for 27th with an overall score of 229. Kerr was 10 strokes behind first place finishers Carly Dehlin from Utah Valley and Kelly Hooper from Montana State.

Head Coach Alexis O'Brien said this was the best performance she has seen from Kerr. Â

"Individually Erica had her best 54 performance in the line-up," O'Brien said. Â I don't foresee her competing as an individual in the future."
Â
Right behind Kerr was senior Hanna Netisingha and sophomore Lili Klekner-Alt. The two finished the invite with a 231, two strokes off of Kerr. Â Netisingha ended the third round one over par, 73 and Klekner-Alt ended two over par, 74. Â

O'Brien said she was happy the team was able to close the invitational with a solid score. Â She said both Klekner-Alt and Netisingha stepped up and played solidly.
Â
The Salukis will be off until March 16-18 where they travel to Mobile, AL for the Bama Beach Bash.
