Kern finishes 11th in the shot put at NCAA Indoor T&F Championships

Southern Illinois senior Jared Kern claimed second-team All-America recognition Friday night on the opening day of the 2018 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships in College Station, Texas.
Kern took home second-team All-America honors after he finished 11th in the shot put. The senior transfer threw 62'-00.25" (18.90m) on his second attempt Friday and missed advancing to the final round by 1'-3.75".Â
Mostafa Hassan of Colorado State led from start to finish to win his second-straight NCAA title. Hassan won with a mark of 68'-5.25" (20.86m).
Isaac Ingram will throw the weight at 2 p.m. tomorrow to wrap up competition at the 2018 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
