Harrison named MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week

ST. LOUIS - Southern Illinois baseball player Brad Harrison was named the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week, presented by Enterprise Bank and Trust Company, the league announced Wednesday. Harrison, who holds a 3.79 GPA in civil engineering, earned the academic award for the third time this season.
Harrison struck out 11 in seven shutout innings in an 8-0 win over Valparaiso Sunday. In the first four innings of the game, Valparaiso only put six balls in play while Harrison struck out nine. For the game, Harrison limited Valpo to a .167 average. In eight starts, Harrison has started three shutouts this season—one complete game and two that were finished by Trey McDaniel, including this past Sunday.Â
Harrison has earned MVC Pitcher of the Week honors three times this season, and he has been named the MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week each time.Â
The Saluki Baseball team travels to Dallas Baptist this weekend for a three-game series against the No. 25-ranked Patriots.Â
