CARBONDALE, IL | Peyton Wilhoit, a junior from Arkansas, has done it again. He won his eighth MVC Golfer of the Week award after his performance at the Boilermaker Intercollegiate. Wilhoit tied for twelfth after dealing with winds from all directions throughout the day. Â
Â
"It's the same thing I've been saying for weeks. Time and time again, he's proven that no matter what type of golf course, no matter the conditions are, no matter what the field is where he's playing, he can compete with anybody at any time,"Â SIU head coach Justin Fetcho said.
Â
The junior has been having a phenomenal season, winning tournaments and setting personal bests. Wilhoit has placed in the top 15 in eight out of the ten tournaments the Salukis have played in during the 2017-18 season.
Â
Junior Peyton Wilhoit speaks on his success this season, "I did some eye correction stuff to work on speed control. As weird as that sounds, I swear by it. I think that having better speed has helped me put better. Putting better is the key to playing better. That's the biggest thing I attribute my success this season to. Confidence comes with that and then the ball just keeps on rolling."
Â
Peyton Wilhoit will end the regular season with the rest of the Salukis this weekend at the MVC Men's Golf Conference Championship in Cape Girardeau.
