CARBONDALE, Ill. - Thursday night's series opener vs. Bradley was suspended in the bottom of the third inning due to lightning. The game will resume at 12 p.m. on Friday, May 18, with two outs, Logan Blackfan on first base, Alex Lyon batting with no count, and Bradley leading 3-2.
The second game of the series, originally scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Friday, will begin approximately 45 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.
Michael Baird struck out seven of the last eight batters he faced in his final start at Itchy Jones Stadium. Bradley starter Cole Cook struck out four in his 2.2 innings. With the MVC Tournament starting on Wednesday, both team's aces are expected to exit the game when it resumes tomorrow and enter the MVC Tournament on full rest.
Logan Blackfan hit a two-out double in the first inning and scored on Alex Lyon's RBI single. Connor Kopach hit a solo home run in the third inning to bring SIU within 3-2. Blackfan followed Kopach's homer with a walk, and the game was suspended at that point.
