Chinn, Reazin and Knighton named to MVFC Preseason team

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — The remainder of the Missouri Valley Football Conference preseason team was announced on Wednesday with Southern Illinois safety Jeremy Chinn and punter Lane Reazin named to the first team, while defensive end Anthony Knighton was selected to the second team. They join wide receiver Darrell James, who was named to the offensive team on Tuesday, to give the Salukis four members of the preseason team, as selected by league coaches, media and SIDs.
Chinn started all 11 games last season and was the team's third-leading tackler (66). He also had three interceptions, six pass breakups and four forced fumbles. A junior from Fishers, Ind., he is considered a top pro prosect. Reazin was the league's best punter last year, averaging 43.6 yards per kick as a sophomore. He had 14 punts of 50+ yards and landed 13 punts inside the opponent's 20 yardline. The Mooreland, Okla. native transferred to SIU two years ago from Oklahoma State. As a freshman last year, Knighton led the team with 6.5 sacks and 11.0 tackles for loss. The Fort Pierce, Fla. native was runner up for MVFC Freshman of the Year and finished 11th in the Jerry Rice Award voting for National Freshman of the Year.
