Kessler uncorked the sixth-best shot put toss nationally at the Jim Green Invitational over the weekend.
ST. LOUIS — Southern Illinois thrower Adam Kessler has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week following his performance at the Jim Green Invitational, the conference announced Tuesday.
Kessler highlighted an impressive day for the Saluki throwers at the Jim Green Invitational. Kessler threw 62'-11.50"(19.19m) to finish third in the shot put and, in doing so, moved up to No. 3 on SIU's all-time list. Kessler's lifetime-best toss from Saturday currently puts him in first in the Missouri Valley Conference, and ranks him sixth nationally, in the event.
The Salukis are back in action at the Sycamore Team Invitational, hosted by Indiana State on Saturday, Jan. 19.
