Saluki Women's Golf in 2nd after Day One at Lady Red Wolves Classic

The Saluki women's golf team is locked in at the Lady Red Wolves Classic and currently positioned in second place after day one, carding 590 (+14) in the opening rounds. The tournament host, Arkansas State (+2), sits in first while Lipscomb University (+16) sits in third place, trailing SIU by 2-strokes. In three out of the four tournaments played this season, Southern Illinois has positioned itself in the top 4 at the end of the first day of competition.
"Our goal is to play smart and not take big numbers," said SIU head coach Danielle Kaufman. "Our course management is improving as well."
Rosemarie Bundy had an impressive first round, carding a career best 69 (-1) and tied for fourth overall. Senior Erica Kerr (+3) scored an even par in the second round and is currently tied for 13th. Junior Emilyee McGiles (+7) is tied for 23th, freshman Ayanna Habeel (+8) and Moyea Russell (+9) round out the team with totals of 152 and 153. In her season debut competing as an individual, Amelia Lawson  carded a total of 158 and is in 39th.
