Clint Meyer Named MVC Men's Field Athlete of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Southern Illinois senior thrower Clint Meyer has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week following his performance at the Saluki Fast Start, the conference announced Tuesday.

In his Saluki debut on Saturday, Meyer won the shot put with a personal-best 62'3.25" (18.98m), which placed him seventh in program history for the event. In addition to his top-10 school mark, his toss is good for first overall in the MVC while also being the fifth-farthest in the NCAA.

Prior to transferring to Southern Illinois, Meyer spent the past three years at California State University Northridge where he captured two outdoor Big West titles in the shot put and broke numerous school records in both indoor and outdoor competition.

SIU will have the month of December off from competition before their next meet, as the Salukis will hit the road to Lexington, Ky. to participate in the Jim Green Invitation on Jan. 10-11.
