
Salukis finish second at Battle at Boulder Creek

The Southern Illinois women's golf team finished Runner-up in the Battle at Boulder Creek to kickoff the spring season. The Salukis had all six golfers finish in the top-20. The Salukis shot rounds of 307, 299, and 309 to finish with a total of 915 (+51) at Boulder Creek Golf Club.
Sophomore Emilyee McGiles carded 77 on Tuesday to finish tied for 8th-overall with teammate Jackie Biggs (+12). Sophomore Erica Kerr (+19) shot 79 to finish tied for 13th. Junior Lili Klekner-Alt (+20) carded 77 in the final round to finish tied for 15th-overall. Senior Sun Jung (+22) competed as an individual and finished in 17th place and sophomore Moyea Russell (+23) finished 18th.
"For our first tournament of the spring, we played very well," SIU head coach Danielle Kaufman said. "I see a lot of positives and improvements from the fall. This will get the momentum going into the next tournament. We are ready to get back out there and compete."
UNLV won the tournament by 39-strokes with a score of 876 (+5) in the 6-team field. Southern Illinois returns to Carbondale to prep for the Islanders Classic in Corpus Christi, Texas on February 25, 2019.
