Salukis in 3rd after first day of Islanders Classic

The Southern Illinois Women's Golf team finished the first day of the Islanders Classic in third place. The Salukis (+32) shot rounds of 305 and 303 and are one-stroke behind host Texas A&M - Corpus Christi (+31). Houston Baptist leads the tournament at +16.Â
Jackie Biggs leads the Salukis tied for 8th overall (+6). Junior Erica Kerr is tied for 10th at 7-over-par and junior Lili Klekner-Alt (+9) is tied for 14th overall. Sophomore Emilyee McGiles is 10-over-par and is tied for 17th. Moyea Russell (+15) is tied for 24th overall. Senior Sun Jung (+23) is playing as an individual and is tied for 42nd.
"We played well and kept our composure," SIU head coach Danielle Kaufman said. "This team loves to compete and we are getting better every day. We can fight our way back to 1st place."
The Salukis tee off for the final round on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. Live scoring will be available via GolfStat.
