Three Salukis earn MVC Weekly Honors

Adam Kessler, A'veun Moore-Jones and Josh Maier all earned MVC Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors
ST. LOUIS - Seniors Adam Kessler and Josh Maier and sophomore A'veun Moore-Jones were each named Missouri Valley Conference Athletes of the Week following their outdoor season-opening performances last weekend at the Bill Cornell Spring Classic in Carbondale, Ill., the conference announced Tuesday.
MVC Men's Field Athlete of the Week
Adam Kessler //Â Sr. //Â Lansing, Ill.
Kessler won the shot put at the Bill Cornell Spring Classic Saturday. Kessler's winning mark of 64'-0.5" (19.52m) was not only a personal-best but it was the third-best toss outdoors in program history. Kessler currently leads the Valley, and is ranked second in the NCAA West Region in the event.
MVC Women's Field Athlete of the Week
A'veun Moore-Jones //Â So. //Â Mount Vernon, Ill.
Moore-Jones won the shot put at the Bill Cornell Spring Classic Saturday with a personal-best mark of 51'-7.25" (15.73m), which was the 10th-best toss outdoors in school history. Moore-Jones currently leads the Valley, and is ranked ninth in the NCAA West Region in the event.
MVC Men's Track Athlete of the Week
Josh Maier //Â Sr. // Alsip, Ill.Â
Maier took second in the 1500m at the Bill Cornell Spring Classic Saturday. Maier, who was making his debut on the track after winning the 2018 MVC cross country champion, was the runner-up with a personal-best time of 3:48.52. Maier's 1500 time ranks him second in the Missouri Valley Conference and seventh in the NCAA West Region.

The Salukis will split up next weekend. Contingents of Salukis will compete at the Raleigh Relays, hosted by North Carolina State, as well as at the Texas Relays, hosted by the University of Texas.
