Salukis in Second at MVC Championship

The Salukis are in second-place after day one of the 2019 Missouri Valley Conference Championship. Southern Illinois (+23) carded 300 to hold the lead at the end of the first round. Finishing the second round with a 299, SIU currently trails Drake (+22) by one-stroke. Due to inclement weather on Sunday, the teams played 36-holes on Monday.Â
All of the Salukis are in the top 20 individually. Lili Klekner-Alt (+4) led the way for the Salukis, carding a tournament-low round of 71 (-1) in the second round. Klekner-Alt is currently two shots behind the leader, moving up sixteen spots in the second round and is tied for fifth place.Â
Moyea Russell (+7) finished the opening day tied for 11th with rounds of 73 and 78. Emilyee McGiles, Jackie Biggs and Erica Kerr all carded 152 (+8) two round performances to rank tied for 16th.
The final round of the 2019 MVC Women's Golf Championship is scheduled to begin on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. at the par-72 Sand Creek Country Club in Chesterton, Indiana.
