Erica Kerr Named to MVC Scholar-Athlete Team

After helping the Salukis to a first-place finish at the MVC Championships, junior Erica Kerr was named to the 2019 Missouri Valley Conference Women's Golf Scholar-Athlete First Team. Graduate Jackie Biggs and sophomore Emilyee McGiles earned Honorable Mention honors.
Kerr, a native of Peoria, Illinois, has a 3.80 GPA in Biology. She led the Salukis with a 77.19 scoring average, the 10th best in the MVC. Among her eight top-20 finishes was a 12th place showing at the MVC Championship and a 10th place tie at the MVC Preview. The junior recorded 24 of her last 31 rounds in the 70s. Her season low rounds of 71 came at the Ball State Cardinal Classic & Saluki Invitational. Kerr played in 11 tournaments in the 2018-19 season with six top-10 finishes.
Biggs takes home an honorable mention honor after a 19th-place finish at this year's Valley Championship. She finished the 2018-19 season with a 78.23 scoring average. Biggs has a 4.0 cumulative grade point average, was named to Honor Roll all semesters and awarded the 2019 State Farm MVC Good Neighbor Award.Â
Sophomore Emilyee McGiles has a 3.68 GPA and finished the regular season with a 77.35 scoring average. Named to the 2018 MVC Honor Roll, the sophomore has recorded 25 of her last 31 rounds in the 70s and recorded her season low 72 at the Spring Break Shootout in Dade City, Florida.
To qualify for the MVC scholar-athlete team, nominees must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at their institutions and participated in at least 50 percent of their team's rounds or played at the MVC Championship.
