Ian Walters named to All-MVC Tournament Team

NORMAL, Ill. - Southern Illinois baseball junior Ian Walters was named to the Missouri Valley Conference's All-Tournament team, the league announced Saturday night. Walters was the only player outside of the league's top-three seeds (DBU, Illinois State, and Indiana State) to earn a spot on the 12-man All-Tournament team.

Walters, an outfielder, hit .333 and slugged .667 for Southern Illinois over four games. He came a double shy of the cycle in SIU's 10-9 win over Missouri State on May 23. Walters also posted a .444 on-base percentage for a 1.111 OPS in the tournament.

After Connor Kopach earned All-Tournament honors last year, Southern Illinois has been represented on the All-Tournament team in back-to-back years for the first time since 2004 and 2005. Walters is the first SIU outfielder to earn a spot on the All-Tournament team since Kevin Koski in 2005.
