Track and Field, Cross Country to Hold Open Tryouts

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The SIU men's & women's cross country and track & field programs will hold an open tryout for current full-time SIU students from Wednesday, Sept. 4 through Friday, Sept. 6, 2019, at the Lew-Hartzog Track and Field Complex. Tryout times will vary by event groups. Practice times will be posted in the track and field office.

A tryout packet must be completed and returned to the track & field office by 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3. The track & field office is located at 128 Lingle Hall. All paperwork must be completed in its entirety in order to be eligible to participate in the tryout.

Below is a list of what is required for participants to be able to take part in the tryout:

You must print, fill out and bring the tryout paperwork packet to the track office (128 Lingle Hall) by Tuesday, Sept. 3 at 5:30 p.m.
You must be a full-time student and are currently enrolled in 12 credit hours or more.
You must be within five years of initial enrollment into (any) college/university and have a cumulative GPA over 2.75.
You must have a copy of your medical insurance card.
You must have proof of a recent physical within 12 months from the date of the tryout (Sept. 6).
Tryout will consist of basic training requirements, but exercises may vary pending your event group.

*If the tryout is successful, an additional NCAA eligibility review will be required.
