Saluki Women's Golf take 4th at MVC Fall Preview

The Southern Illinois University women's golf team finished fourth at the MVC Fall Preview. Tournament host Northern Iowa (+78) held on to win the tournament after heading into Tuesday's 15-team field in first place. Missouri State and Drake tied for second with a total of 950 (+86), only three-strokes ahead of the Salukis. Through the 56-hole tournament, the Salukis shot 314-316-323 with a total of 953 (+89) at Spirit Hollow Golf Course, a par-72 course that stretches 6,245 yards.
Junior Emilyee McGiles (+16) finished the tournament tied for third after carding three birdies in the final round. Senior Erica Kerr (+23) finished in the top-20, tied for 18th overall. Junior Moyea Russell (+25) and freshman Ayanna Habeel (+25) tied for 25th place with a total of 241. Junior Rosemarie Bundy (+47) shot a total of 263 through three rounds. Freshmen Megan Breslin (+32) finished tied for 50th place and Secilia Ho carded 254 (+38) in her season opener.
In the team's second tournament of the season, Southern Illinois once again showed their composure as they posted a top-five finish overall. The finish marks the 9th top-five finish under head coach Danielle Kaufman in her first two seasons.
The Saluki women's golf team is back in action on Monday, September 30, 2019 when they travel to Columbia, Missouri to compete in the Johnie Imes Invitational at Old Hawthorne GC.
