The Southern Illinois women's golf team will compete in the 12th annual Johnie Imes Invitational at the Club at Old Hawthorne in Columbia, Missouri on Monday, September 30, 2019. The lineup for SIU includes junior Emilyee McGiles, senior Erica Kerr, junior Moyea Russell, freshmen Ayanna Habeel and Megan Breslin.
The 15-team field will compete at the Club at Old Hawthorne, a par-72 course that spreads 6,234 yards. The Club at Old Hawthorne has rolling hills with several water hazards throughout. The fairways are wide, with strategically-placed center fairway bunkers. The bunkers split up the fairways, creating different options of how to attack the green.
Southern Illinois, the reigning MVC Champions, go into the tournament with confidence after coming off a fourth place finish at the MVC Fall Preview. Junior Emilyee McGiles finished tied for third after carding three birdies in the final round and senior Erica Kerr finished the MVC Fall Preview at Spirit Hollow in the top-20, finishing tied for 18th overall.
The three day tournament will tee off Monday at 8:00 a.m. to begin Round 1. Round 2 is scheduled for Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at 8:00 a.m. with the final round concluding Wednesday beginning at 8:00 a.m. with a shotgun start. Live stats will be available on Birdie Fire.
