Theo Phipps Named MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week

ST. LOUIS – For the first time in his career, Theo Phipps has been named the MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week, presented by Enterprise Bank and Trust Company, Commissioner Doug Elgin announced today.

Phipps, along with Bradley's Chelsea Brackmann, were honored for their performances during the week of Jan. 19-25.

Phipps, a junior jumper/hurdler, won the 60 meter hurdles this past weekend at the Don DeNoon Invitational, his second victory in the event this season. Phipps holds a 3.91 GPA as a finance major.

To qualify for the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Spotlight, student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20, completed at least one academic year at a Valley institution and must be at least a sophomore in academic standing.

Redshirt freshmen and first-year junior college transfers are not eligible. In addition to the academic qualifications, student-athletes are evaluated on their campus involvement and community service.
