Women’s Golf tied for Third at MVC Championship

Saint Charles, Mo. — Southern Illinois women's golf is tied for third place after shooting 618 (+50) in Monday's first round of the 2021 Missouri Valley Conference Championship at Bogey Hills Country Club. Evansville leads the 10-team field with a first day score of 604 (+37).
Four of the the Salukis lineup are currently in the Top-25 overall. Fifth-year Erica Kerr led SIU with a score of 152 (+10) and is tied for sixth place after firing a team-high four birdies on the day. Senior Emilyee McGiles is tied for 15th place at 13-over 155. Senior Moyea Russell carded 156 (+14) and is tied for 18th place. Sophomore Ayanna Habeel battled through the day to finish at 157 (+15), currently tied for 20th place. Freshman Janie Samattiyadeekul is tied for 28th with a first round total of 161 (+19).
The Salukis are scheduled to tee off for the final 18-holes on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. CT, shotgun start. Inclement weather is in the forecast, with rain and snow, and a high of 43F. Follow along on Golfstat.com for live scoring.
