The 2021-22 season for the Southern Illinois men's golf team gets underway Friday, September 10th as the team travels to the USAF Academy, Colorado to compete in the 52nd Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational (formerly the Pikes Peak Invitational).
The 21-team field will tee off at the Eisenhower Golf Club, a par 72 mountain course that stretches over 7,500 yards with large greens, long teeing grounds and fairway bunkers requiring 250-yard carry. The course is currently ranked the third best military course in the nation (PGA.com) and the 24th best college course (Golf Week) in the country. The course opened in 1959 and is named after former President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
The Salukis lineup will consist of senior Matthis Besard, freshman Braden Hoisington, senior Markus Wilhelmsen, sophomore Justin Wingerter, and senior Tom Cleaton. Junior Andrew Thornton and freshman Carsen Silliman will compete as individuals.
Teams are set to tee off Friday at 9:30am CT on the Blue course. All individuals will play on the Silver course, with a shotgun start at 10:30am CT. Live scoring will be available on Golfstat.com.
