EVANSVILLE, Ind. — The Southern Illinois University women's basketball team heads to Indiana on Saturday for a 1 p.m. matchup against the University of Evansville Purple Aces. The Salukis (10-6, 5-1) will look to continue the program's hottest start to Valley play since the 2006-07 season.
Southern was originally scheduled to face Indiana State on Thursday, but that game was postponed to Feb. 9 due to COVID concerns in the Sycamores program. This is the third COVID-related gap in play for the Salukis this year, as a matchup in November against IUPUI was canceled, and a conference tilt against Missouri State earlier this month was postponed to Feb. 4.
The Salukis are coming off a victory over Bradley that saw Makenzie Silvey become the new all-time leading scorer in program history, as she scored her 1,780th point to move ahead of Cartaesha Macklin's record of 1,779 set in 2016.
Southern has won eight-straight matchups against Evansville dating back to 2017.
