CARBONDALE, Ill. — Southern Illinois returns to the road on Wednesday night at Northern Iowa in a game televised on ESPN+ at 7 p.m.
The Salukis (12-12, 5-7) are 3-3 in conference road games with wins at Evansville, Valparaiso and Illinois State to its credit. They are sixth in the league standings with six games remaining in the regular season.
The Panthers (13-9, 9-3) have won four-straight games and nine of their last 11. They beat SIU in Carbondale on Jan. 15, 69-68. Southern trailed by 10 at halftime, led by one with under five minutes to go, but then went nearly four minutes without a field goal. UNI trails Loyola (9-2) by a half game in the conference standings.
Since 2000, the Salukis are 4-17 at Northern Iowa with wins in 2001, 2003, 2017 and 2019.

Quoting Coach Mullins
"Northern Iowa is playing as well as anyone in the league right now. They just had a huge win at Drake. They've played well all conference season. All (three) of their losses have been close. They're an experienced team that knows how to win and have won a conference championship before. In AJ (Green), Noah (Carter) and (Trae) Berhow, they have three guys that can get over 20 points easily. (Bowen) Born and (Nate) Heise are very talented offensive players as well, so it's going to be a great challenge for us. We have to play with poise on the road, and execute, and take care of the ball and try to go in there and get a win."
