
Women’s Golf Finish Tied for Sixth at 2022 MVC Championship

KIRKWOOD, Mo. — The Southern Illinois women's golf team wrapped up the 2021-22 season tied for sixth place at the MVC Championship, which finished Tuesday with 18 holes at Greenbriar Hills Country Club. The Salukis closed the three-day, 54 hole tournament with a final score of 950 (+98). Illinois State (+59) took home the championship trophy to advance to the NCAA Regionals.
Two Salukis finished in the Top-20 player leaderboard. Graduate Moyea Russell, playing in her final collegiate tournament, shot rounds of 79, 77, and 80 to finish with a total mark of 236 (+23) tied for 16th overall with sophomore Janie Samattiyadeekul, who shot a team low 76 in the third round and led SIU with six birdies. Graduate Rosemarie Bundy, also competing in her last event with Southern Illinois, carded 243 (+30) to finish in 30th. Freshman Kylee Vaughan was relaxed in her first MVC Championship, firing 245 (+32) over three-days to finished tied for 33rd. Junior Ayanna Habeel finished in 36th with a total score of 246 (+33).
