CARBONDALE, Ill. — The Southern Illinois University softball team hosts the St. Louis Billikens on Wednesday, April 6 for a mid-week non-conference game beginning at 4 p.m. The Salukis have won five of their last six, which included their first series win at Drake since 2012, while the Billikens (14-15) come into Wednesday's contest having won three-straight after sweeping Rhode Island.
All-time vs. St. Louis
- Wednesday's meeting will mark the 54th meeting between St. Louis and Southern Illinois University.
- SIU holds a commanding 48-5 lead in the all-time series.
- Southern has won four of the last five meetings after St. Louis defeated SIU, 3-2 a year ago. It was SLU's first win over SIU since 2015.
- The Salukis won 24-straight games against the Billikens from 1992-2002.
Getting it done in Des Moines
- The Salukis won their second-straight MVC series after it took games one and three of its three-game set at Drake.
- Southern's series win was its first at Drake since 2012 and the Salukis improved to 22-11 all-time in Des Moines.
All-time hits leader
- Jenny Jansen, who earlier this season became SIU's all-time RBI leader, broke Jen Feldmeier's 1997 school record for career hits with her 224th career base knock in the first inning of SIU's 8-1 win over Drake on April 2.
- She is one of only six players in program history to reach the 200-career hit plateau and her 228 career hits are the 14th-most in Missouri Valley Conference history.
Tied a school record
- Elizabeth Warwick tied the school record after she drew four walks in SIU's 13-5 win over Drake on April 3. It was the most walks in a game by a Salukis since 2019 when Kyleigh Decker walked four times against Mississippi Valley State on Feb. 10, 2019.
- It marks the fifth time that a Saluki has drawn four walks in a game.
