Three Salukis sign NFL free-agent contracts

CARBONDALE, Ill. — After the recently completed NFL Draft, three Saluki football players signed free-agent contracts with NFL teams — linebacker Bryce Notree (New Orleans Saints), wide receiver Landon Lenoir (Chicago Bears) and safety Qua Brown (Kansas City Chiefs). In addition, defensive end Jordan Berner signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League.
Last season, Notree led SIU in tackles (91) plus added 4.0 sacks, 7.5 tackles for loss, 2 interceptions and seven QB hurries. Lenoir finished as SIU's No. 2 all-time receiver with 2,615 yards. Brown ended his career at SIU ranked No. 16 in tackles (283) and No. 2 in forced fumbles (6). Berner finished his career at SIU ranked seventh in sacks (17.0) and fifth in fumble recoveries (5).
Southern Illinois currently has eight active players in the National Football League, including veterans Jeremy Chinn (Carolina Panthers), Madre Harper (Carolina Panthers), MyCole Pruitt (Tennessee Titans), Ryan Neal (Seattle Seahawks) and Craig James (Philadelphia Eagles).
Saluki Football has produced 42 players who have gone on to play at least one regular-season game in the NFL. Twenty-eight players have been selected in the NFL Draft all-time from SIU.
