CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois Track & Field program traveled to Bloomington this weekend and competed at the Indiana Relays.
Tha Salukis took home first place in two events with Dawson Plab winning the Men's High Jump with a height of 2.07M and Iaunia Pointer winning the Women's 200M Dash with a time of 23.81.Â
Another standout on the women's side was Rachel Anderson. She set a new SIU Program record in the Indoor 5000M Run with a time of 16:34.30. This time landed her a third place finish at the meet.
"This was our third meet with some really good competition. It allows our athletes to really become battle tested as we prepare for the conference meet in a few weeks," said Director of Track and Field & Cross Country Richard Jones. "In addition, a few athletes got some personal bests and Rachel Anderson got a school record which is always great."
Iaunia Pointer also competed in the Women's 60M Dash, finishing third with a time of 7.58. Another top 3 finisher for the women was Shauniece O'Neal. She finsihed in third place in the Women's Weight Throw with a final mark of 20.96M.Â
On the men's side, freshmen Xavier Preston had another strong meet. He recorded second place finishes in the Men's 60M Dash and 200M Dash with times of 6.85 and 21.24. Freshmen Jadon Robertson finished in second place in the Men's High Jump with a height of 1.99M.
The Salukis will be back in action this weekend in New York at the Rutgers Scarlet Knights Open.Â
