Entering Sunday's match, the Salukis have a 1-9-5 record and are 0-6-2 in Missouri Valley Conference play.
In its last match on Thursday, SIU fell to Valparaiso, 2-1. Kaitlin DuCharme scored her third goal of the season in the match, while McKinley Stiff tallied her first assist of the year.
DuCharme now has seven goals in her Saluki career. This ties her with Emma Spotak for the second most goals all-time in program history, trailing just Liz Brechtel (10). Both DuCharme and Spotak also have three career assists.
McKensey Bunch leads SIU in scoring on the year, posting a team-high four goals in 2023. Bunch also has the most shots (25) and shots-on-goal (10).
On her career, Bunch now has five goals as a Saluki.
Goalkeeper Chantelle Symes has started 13 games for Southern, making 47 saves and allowing 17 goals in those 13 starts.
Freshman Veronica Gonzalez's 1335 minutes leads the Salukis, followed by fellow freshman Molly Tapak's 1314.

Head Coach Graeme Orr

Graeme Orr is in his first season as head coach of the women's soccer program. Assistant coaches Carley Kandel and Ash Phillips are also in their first year with the Salukis, while Jake Edwards returns for his second season as a graduate assistant on the coaching staff.
Orr comes to SIU after spending the previous 12 seasons as the head coach at Division II West Alabama. He was announced as the Salukis' head coach on May 30, 2023.
The Eaglesham, Scotland native, was the first head coach in West Alabama women's soccer history, starting the program in 2011. During his 12 years with the program, Orr posted an overall record of 115-78-19 and conference record of 79-44-9.
UWA recorded 10-consecutive and had 11-straight postseason appearances under Orr.
Orr was previously an assistant coach at North Alabama before arriving at West Alabama.

Looking at Murray State

The Racers are 4-7-4 overall and 2-1-4 in MVC play heading into Sunday.
Murray State is on a three-match unbeaten run and have won two straight games, including a 2-0 win at Illinois State last Sunday.
Hailey Cole and Mary Hardy both scored in the win, while Griselda Revolorio made four saves in tallying the shutout.
At home this season, the Racers are 1-3-2 on the year.
Hardy's five goals lead the team, followed by Cole's four.
Revolorio has played in 12 games in-goal for Murray, allowing seven goals and making 39 saves in those games.
Matt Lodge is the Racers' head coach, and is in his sixth season in the role.

Series History

The Salukis are 1-2 all-time against the Racers.
Last season, the two sides met twice, with SIU winning the regular season matchup on Oct. 13, 2022, 1-0, but falling in the postseason, 2-1, on Oct. 30, 2022.
