Track and Field Announces 2023-24 Schedule

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois University track and field team's 2023-24 schedule has been announced ahead of the upcoming season.
"As we begin the transition from Cross Country to indoor track, I am excited about our upcoming season," said Richard Jones, Director of Cross Country and Track & Field. "The young men and women have had a productive fall training season and it's time to move inside and get acclimated to the indoor track."
Southern Illinois' season kicks-off with Saluki Fast Start on Dec. 2 at the SIU Recreation Center, which is returning for the first time since before COVID-19.
"We have a competitive schedule and made some improvements with some of our meets that we are going to this season," Jones said. "We have even brought back the Saluki Fast Start meet which has been off since COVID-19. That gives the athletes something to look forward to, right before getting into finals and the end of the semester."
To begin the new year, the Salukis will first compete at the Badgers Midwest Invite in Chicago on Jan. 14, followed by a trip to Bloomington, Ind., for the Indiana Invitational from Jan. 19 to Jan. 20. The final indoor meet before conference will be the Don DeNoon Invitational on Feb. 17 at the SIU Recreation Center in Carbondale.Â
The Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Championships will take place from Feb. 25 to Feb. 26 in Chicago, followed by the NCAA Indoor Championships from March 8 to March 9 in Boston.
In outdoor, Southern Illinois will first head down to Tampa, Fla., for the USF Bulls Invitational from March 14 to March 16. The Salukis will return home from April 5 to April 6 for the Bill Cornell Invite at the Lew Hartzog Track and Field Complex.Â
The MVC Outdoor Championships will be held in Terre Haute, Ind., from May 10 to May 12 at the Gibson Track and Complex. The NCAA Outdoor Championships will begin in Fayetteville, Ark., with regionals from May 22 to May 25, and then conclude in Eugene, Ore., from June 5 to June 8.
