11/11/2023 | 7:55:00 | Women's Volleyball
After honoring the class of seniors, the Salukis carried that energy onto the floor where they notched a .485 hitting percentage on 16 kills in the first set after getting out to a 7-1 lead and forcing an early Braves' timeout.Â
The Salukis were led in kills by Nataly Garcia and Annabelle Sulish who each totaled 11 while Garcia also led the team with 15 digs and a pair of aces. Seniors Tatum Tornatta and Nsia Gittens each had nine kills in the three-set win as well while Imani Hartfield finished with four kills with a .333 hitting percentage and three blocks.Â
Despite cruising through games one and two, the third set came down to the wire as the Salukis found themselves down 22-20 before going on a three-point run to retake the lead. From there both sides traded points before SIU was eventually able to score consecutive points on kills from Hartfield and Garcia.Â
The Salukis will play their final match of the regular season this coming Wednesday, November 15 at Davies Gym as the Missouri State Bears come to Carbondale.Â
