Pointer named MVC Female Track Athlete of the Week

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Iaunia Pointer from the Southern Illinois University sprints team has named the Missouri Valley Conference Female Track Athlete of the Week.

Pointer was recognized for her performance at the USF Bull Invite, which was from March 17-18.

The highlight of the weekend for the junior was a first-place finish in the women's 200m dash, where she ran a 23.31, the second-fastest time in program history in the event.

In the women's 400 relay, Pointer's team tallied a fourth-place finish after posting a time of 45.67.

The junior sprinter also placed inside the top five in the women's 400m dash, finishing third with a time of 54.47.

What's Next
Pointer and the Salukis will next compete at the Joey Haines Invitational in Cape Girardeau, Mo., from March 31 to April 1.
