
Preview | Cross Country ready for MVC Championship

CARBONDALE, Ill. – The Southern Illinois University cross-country program will compete in the MVC Championship Friday, Nov. 1, at Pheasant Ridge in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The women's 6K race will occur at 11:00 a.m. followed by the men's 8K race at noon.
The men's team consists of five runners:
Freshmen: Ben Chance, and Will Foltz
Junior: Westen Jokerst
Senior: Ben Morgan
Graduate Student: Uriah Guthrie
The women's team consists of eight runners:
Freshmen: Kyla Engel, Riley Linville
Sophomore: Brodie Denny and Hannah Meiser
Junior: Audrey Boles
Senior: Brianna Nieset
Graduate Student: Britany Zeimer, Hannah Eastman
Ziemer and Eastman are ready to compete in the MVC Championship. Due to their commitment to medical school, both runners could only compete in two races in the 2024 season. Eastman competed at the SEMO RedHawks XC Invite where she placed second, finishing at 18:04.50 in the 5K race. Ziemer competed at the Bradley Pink Classic placing 182nd, with a time of 22:57.68 in the 6K race.
The Salukis will look to carry momentum over from the Bradley Pink Classic on Oct. 18. Junior Weston Jokerst was the men's top performer, finishing the 8K race in 129th place with a time of 25:18.82. The women's top performer was Sophomore Hannah Meiser, finishing the 6K race in 63rd with a time of 21:30.69.
