CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois University men's golf team will head to Lahaina, Hawaii, on Saturday, Nov. 2, to compete in the Ka'anapali Classic. The Salukis will compete against 21 teams in a three-day tournament, playing 18 holes daily until Monday, Nov. 4.
The Salukis will send a five-man team and one individual to compete –Leon Heitz, Anthony De Schutter, Carsen Silliman, Lucas Lasley, Oliver Ulrich, and Jan Wdowka (Indv.)
The Ka'anapali Classic is held at the Royal Ka'anapali Golf Course. It spans 6,700 yards and is a par-71 event. This is one of two courses designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. in Hawaii. (Robert Trent Jones Jr. | Premier Golf Course Architect)
The Salukis last competed in the Everett Buick GMC Classic, where they finished 14th out of 16 teams. Anthony De Schutter was the top scorer, shooting 223 (+7).
The Ka'anapali Classic will feature 21 teams that are supporting the families of Maui wildfires. This was Hawaii's largest natural disaster in the state's history. The campaign has no minimum donation, and if you would like to contribute, the fundraiser can be found here.
