CARBONDALE, Ill. -Â The Southern Illinois University track and field team's 2024-25 schedule has been announced ahead of the upcoming season.
"This year's schedule provides a great opportunity for friends and family to come and support the athletes," said Richard Jones, Director of Track and Field. "It is more regional this year than it has been in the past. The level of competition is still very high within the conference and region. It is an exciting opportunity to host the outdoor MVC Championship, this will hopefully encourage conference teams to attend the Bill Cornell Spring Classic. It is always exciting to build a schedule for the athletes and see how they travel and compete throughout the Midwest."
Southern Illinois' season kicks off with Saluki Fast Start from Dec. 6 to Dec. 7 at the SIU Recreation Center.
The Salukis will make their 2025 debut at the Indiana Invitational in Bloomington, Ind., on Jan. 17, then they will head back to Indiana for the Crossroads of America Invitational in Indianapolis from Jan. 24 to Jan. 25. The Salukis will then head to Columbia to compete in the Missouri Invite on Feb. 7. The Dawgs will wrap up the indoor regular season when they host the Don DeNoon Invitational on Feb. 15 at the SIU Recreation Center.
The Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Championships will take place from March 1 to March 3 in Chicago, followed by the NCAA Indoor Championships from March 14 to March 15 in Virginia Beach, Va.
The Salukis will start the 2025 outdoor season in Oxford, Miss., competing in the Ole Miss Classic on March 22. They will then head to St. Louis to compete in the WashU Distance Carnival on March 29. Following this event, Southern Illinois will head back to Carbondale, hosting the Bill Cornell Spring Classic from April 4 to April 5 at the Lew Hartzog T&F Complex.
Southern Illinois will head back on the road when it travels to Terra Haute, Ind., to compete in the Gibson Invitational from April 17 to April 18. Shortly after this, the Salukis will head to the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, from April 23 to April 26. Finishing the outdoor regular season, they will head to Lexington, Ky., to compete in the UK Invitational from May 1 to May 2.
The MVC Outdoor Championships will be hosted in Carbondale, Ill. at the Lew Hartzog T&F Complex from May 16 to May 18. The NCAA Outdoor Championships West Prelims will be in College Station, Texas, and conclude in Eugene, Ore., on June 11.
